Art From The Heart

Very “special”, young Picassos, Rembrandts and Michaelangelos came to downtown Brentwood last month.  On February 13-16, The Gallery On Second hosted an artist’s showcase of art created by local special needs children.  The four day event began on the 13th with an artist’s reception and a Special Haven presentation given by Special Haven board members Michael Worley and Jude Byrne.  Over the course of the four days, 60 pieces of art were displayed and sold to the public.  100% of the proceeds, $618, were donated to Special Haven.  A special thank you goes to Mirna Remson for organizing such an amazing event and to Jack and Betty Gaughan, owners of The Gallery On Second, for graciously showcasing the amazing artwork and giving these very talented artists a venue to show off their creativity.  The biggest kudos goes to the exceptionally talented artists.  According to Jude Byrne, “it was so nice to see the pride of accomplishment in the kids’ faces.” Who knows, maybe the next big artist is amongst us in East County.  Great job!!
